Marco Jones - So you think giving a review of a clearly bad experience makes one an ass? Interesting.

You are right - the discounted weeknight rate was $169 – a great rate! I do, however, have the receipt that shows the $700 one-night charge for Friday night. Maybe I didn't make this part clear - but having worked with the hospitality industry for many years, I would typically expect to have the same service/experience with an organization discount, as I would if I booked the room individually.

I did not book the Wynn with any indication that I would get a room with shabby furniture, or be treated with sub-par service because of the discount. Had I know, I would have chosen to stay elsewhere.

The point being, if you use a ½ off coupon at a restaurant, do you expect them to only give you half the regular meal? Maybe a half-cooked meal? Or you get the meal, but no wait staff will help you? No, you expect the same food and service, with the benefit of a special rate.

Not sure why you think it was $700 when everyone else paid $169 during the conference - an unheard of low rate.

> I wasn’t an ass

no, you saved that bit for public.

I've never had a single bad experience at Wynn Las Vegas. In fact I never stay anywhere else, anymore. You and your boss should give it another try. If you go during the right times, like during the week and off-peak days, you can get a decent room rate well below $500.

I've stayed just about everywhere in Vegas, even the rinky-dink ultra shabby hotels, when money was real tight, so I have plenty to compare to the Wynn. Quite frankly, I think the Wynn is in it's own category. Two, three, even four steps ahead of the any other Las Vegas hotel.

Next time, ask for compensation if something goes wrong, but I highly doubt anything will go wrong if you come back. I've stayed about 7 times and never had any problems. I love the Wynn.

So says the Internet Gatekeeper!

Sorry to hear about everyone's bad experiences. I personally love the Wynn and stay there whenever I can afford to.

However, last fall I too had a bad experience. It was little things, that I honestly can't even remember now, but for a 5 star resort, those little things all began to add up - finally, capping it off, I was all but ignored at poolside by the waitresses offering drinks to everyone expect myself.

I called the manager to complain and received the standard apology. When I wasn't offered any sort of compensation, I ASKED. That is the key here people - if you don't ask, you won't receive. It would be nice if they offered, but if they don't, then you must take matters into your own hands.

I was given a $100 credit for anything in the hotel (meals, massage, etc.), and my experience became much more positive after that.

I love staying at The Wynn, and I usually can only afford it if the rate is below $250/night, because, honestly, who would pay more than $500 for a room anyway!? (unless someone else was footing the bill). I will continue to stay there when the rates are reasonable as I think it is one of the best hotels in Vegas. And definitely *the best* casino!

I also had very bad experience with Wynn; not on the facility but their extremely unprofessional and arrogant service. Like you, I stayed there just to see what the only 5-star hotel in Vegas looks like; unlike you, I wasn't disappointed by the room, but very upset with how they treat a customer.

When I reserved a hotel, I only booked for two nights and nothing else; it was also clearly stated in my confirmation email. But when I checked out, they charged me additional $750 golf game cancellation fee - I don't even play golf and I did not reserve any game - there is no record showing I did so. At first, I told the staff this is a mistake; without any smile or apology, she showed me a poker face and asked me to fill up a paper work, and I did. I thought it was done.

No, two weeks later I received a letter from their account receivable and tell me they "must" charge me because it was reserved for me and I didn't cancel - what the heck are they talking about? Who reserved for me and where is the confirmation? It is such a shameless dirty trick only gangsters would do. As of now, I am still fighting with them for that $750 I am not responsible in any way.

I have stayed in other hotels which cost so much cheaper and the staff are treating customers much more professionally even though their rooms are not as fancy. I was already a little disappointed when I checked in and saw a poker face staff, but I could not expect to experience things like this.

Hey Scott - reading this article immediately brought this link to mind - it's an expose of the nastiness of hotel glasses!

Wow, Scott, what a HORRIBLE experience, bordering on the disgusting...glad that I stayed at the "Royal" Resort, a couple of blocks away & saved my $$!! At least the room was clean and I got fresh plastic cups in my bathroom every day.
